Bisnis.com, PENAJAM PASER UTARA – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conveys some of the differences between the Presidential Palace in the nation’s capital (IKN) Nusantara in East Kalimantan and the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.
According to him, the Presidential Palace at IKN is a State facility made by the cold hands of the best sons and daughters of the Indonesian nation as an authentic work belonging to the State, while the Palace in Jakarta is a Dutch colonial heritage building.
To note, the State Palace was originally the private residence of a Dutch citizen named JA van Braam, where he began building his residence in 1796, namely during the reign of Governor General Pieter Gerardus van Overstraten until 1804 during the reign of Governor General Johannes Sieberg.
Jokowi emphasized that the Presidential Palace at IKN was built by the Indonesian people, both in terms of design and physical development.
“What is clear is from design, from manufacture, from construction, everything is done by ourselves, the difference is that. All by the sons and daughters of Indonesia’s best nation,” he said while reviewing the Presidential Palace project at KIPP IKN, East Kalimantan, Thursday (23/2/2022) .
Jokowi is also optimistic that because it was built independently by the children of the State, it can trigger crowds in the IKN area. Thus, it is hoped that the economic movement will run positively in line with development in the Nusantara National Park area.
In fact, he believes investors will be interested in participating in building various facilities and infrastructure, from schools to shopping centers.
“Yes, of course this (palace) will be occupied after it’s finished. Every ministry too, although not all of the staff are brought in. Because there is a crowd here, if there is a crowd, it means we need a restaurant, school, from kindergarten, elementary, junior high school, university high school, we need a hospital. , clinics, need entertainment, malls, and others,” he said.
Not only that, the number one person in Indonesia also said that in 2024 he believed several government buildings would have been completed. One of them is the Presidential Palace building. So it is targeted that the independence ceremony on August 17 2024 will be held at IKN Nusantara.
“Later on this is the palace area, the Presidential Palace, which I am optimistic that next year in August, God willing, the ceremony will be held here. If you look at the landscape and others, I have spoken with the designers, executors in the field, supervision in the field, managers in the field, I am optimistic, God willing, it will be finished,” Jokowi concluded.
Garuda Palace at IKN
Reporting from the Kemenparekraf website, the design of the State Palace at IKN Nusantara takes the form of an eagle flapping its wings. The design was initiated by artist Nyoman Nuarta and has been approved by President Jokowi. The design with the name Garuda Palace is part of the Nusantara Presidential Palace which will be built on an area of 55.7 hectares with a footprint of 334,200 square meters.
“Garuda Palace was designed as a ‘home’ associated with the Garuda bird. It does not only stop at the landmarks of an area, but rather as a manifestation of achieving synergy between art, science and technology. The combination of the three always colors the existence of iconic buildings around the world. The design of the Garuda Palace will be truly transformed and realized in an architectural pattern by considering aesthetic aspects, use value, and benefits for the advancement of the country’s tourism world,” said Nuarta.
According to Nyoman, the Garuda bird became a design because it has a very close relationship with Indonesia with various differences, all cross-views, all the diversity of customs and behavior, and differences in beliefs and religions. Garuda is a symbol of unity. Moreover, Garuda is also part of the national symbol, Bhineka Tunggal Ika.
“The president will have an office at the Garuda Palace, as if he is at the forefront to lead this nation to achieve the ideals of social justice and shared prosperity. Symbolically, this role contains the language of beauty, hospitality, shade of independence, and authority as the leader of a great nation,” said Nuarta.
